One of the main reasons that computers run slow is that they have been infected with adware or malware. Adware and malware usually are used to try to make their creator money by directing you to advertising that you did not request, or downloading programs that you do not want. There are some good programs that can be used to remove adware and malware programs.
A fragmented hard drive can also slow things down. Hard drives usually try to store files together. As you store more and more files, your hard drive may be unable to put them together anymore. When this happens a computer will slow down. This is very easy to fix by running the Disk Defragmenter to clean up these files, and put them back in order, which can really speed up your PC.
The final step to speed up your PC is to limit the amount of programs that start-up automatically every time your computer reboots. It would be very convenient for you if these programs will start up automatically so they would be ready anytime you need them, but if you don’t use them that much, then they can just slow things down. It’s best to set them not to start up automatically. Only allow the programs that you can’t live without run automatically. This can really speed up your computer.
